Shibori Sources of Information

January is SHIBORI month where the artists on this blog are going to try shibori then show you the process and the results.  This post will be the repository for all the sources we used to learn how to make the shibori--books, blogs, tutorials, Utube, magazine articles, etc. so that you too can go to our sources.   The post will be updated as each artist adds her sources so you might want to check it more than once.

We also will depend on you to share your knowledge. If you have a favorite source, please leave a comment and share the link!

1.  There are some youtube videos on shibori:

2.  Blogs

http://quilterb-bethsblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/my-pieces-from-shibori-days.html  And here are some pictures from quilter-bethsblog showing some fabulous finished shibori fabric and the color combinations used to achieve them:

Here is a Entwinement blog that I found very helpful when I started playing with Shibori.

3.  Books
A book called "Dye & Discharge" by Sara Newberg King. It is available on Amazon. It is an older book, but has GREAT information about shibori using dyes and discharge...such as pole wrapping, spider web, star shapes, free-form shapes, ring dots, resist objects, and more.

Shibori: The Inventive Art of Japanese Shaped Resist Dyeing.  It is 303 pages of instruction and pictures for all kinds of Shibori.  If you are serious about the technique, this is the book to buy.  Pole-Wrapping, Arashi meaning storm, begins on page 123.
